Does a heat detection always mean a confirmed wildfire?

What do confidence and heat signal mean?

Confidence describes how reliable the satellite detection is. Heat signal describes how strong the detected thermal signal appears.

Why can there be many detections in one area?

Large fires or repeated satellite passes can create several detections close together. The tracker may group nearby signals.
